Ruby

A dynamically typed language (Matz, 1995) designed for programmer happiness — everything is an object, including numbers and nil.

Where you see it

You write `.rb` files, talk to objects by sending messages, and reach for blocks instead of verbose loops. MRI is the usual runtime; Bundler locks gems. Rails is the famous framework on top — not the language itself.

Why it matters

Shopify, GitHub, and Basecamp-style shops still hire Ruby. Language fluency (objects, blocks, mixins) is how you become dangerous before you touch Rails generators.

Interview angle

Expect “what is a symbol vs a string?”, “how do blocks differ from procs?”, and “what does include vs extend do?” — not just Rails routing trivia.
